All I Want For Christmas…

December 20th, 2011

T’was eight days before Christmas, when all through the house,
Every creature was stirring, including  the spouse.

The dresses were hung on cool hangers with care,
In hopes that the limo driver soon would be there,

The gents were all snug and dapper in their threads,
While the ladies adorned themselves in shades of reds.

And Katie in her gown, and Mitch in his suit
Never have we had a Christmas wedding, that was so cute.

When out at the reception, there rose such a clatter
The Site-Taylor Wedding Clan partied like tomorrow didn’t matter.

Story Photographers ran around with a flash,
As our happy couple ran out with a dash.

While we’d love to go on with this poetic chitter-chatter,
We’ll simply wish Katie & Mitch, a happily ever after.

And if you’re thinking of a holiday wedding.  Don’t hold back — use the fantastic themes all around you to create your Perfect Plan.  Need help?  Don’t hesitate to contact us.

Operation: Marry Me Military

November 12th, 2011

Fact:  More than 2.2 million Americans devote their lives to serving our country through active duty and reservist U.S. military service.

That statistic alone is enough to explain why we were so thrilled to participate in Operation: Marry Me Military.

Operation Marry Me Military was founded by Oak Island Photography and Weddings , along with several wedding vendors, in order to give back to those who give their all.

The idea:  Host a wedding on Veterans Day for a deserving military couple.

We were thrilled to offer this fab U.S. Air Force couple a posh city wedding; designed and donated by local Raleigh-Durham wedding vendors.  We can’t begin to thank them all for making the Kruse-Powell Wedding such a spectacular occasion.

But we HIGHLY encourage you to check out their work .

More importantly, we were so lucky to meet such a deserving couple.  Connie & Bryan (read more about them) gave us the basics and allowed us to work our magic.   We could go on and on about this fantastic endeavor, but we were humbled to be able to play a role in creating a Perfect Plan for these two lovebirds.

Operation: MMM isn’t a one time thing — so, find out how you can help in 2012!

Life’s a Beach

October 5th, 2011

If you haven’t noticed, North Carolina is PERFECT.  Really, it is!   Let us tell you why:

Okay, maybe the last one isn’t as profound as the others — nevertheless, very impressive.  So, what does any of this have to do with the Patrick-Danehey Wedding?  Not much, but this October beach wedding was the best!  This Raleigh couple chose a destination wedding — and what a celebration!

The Perfect Plan had the pleasure of working with Melissa & Brett soon after their engagement.  And how would they describe their perfect wedding?  Friends, family and most of all fun — and boy, did we have fun —  Photographer, Eric Boneske, did an amazing job capturing those moments!

Destination weddings can be a blast — but, we encourage you to keep a few things in mind.

Don’t Go At It Alone

Find a few good vendors to help you organize and plan your day.  Vendors always have their favorites, let them be your Jr. Sleuths and help you pick the right people.

To Include or Not to Include?

If you’re choosing a far off destination, consider all-inclusive packages.  In the end, it really may save you more money than seeking all your vendors from varying places.

Know the Rules

And most importantly, know the legal ropes about the wedding.  Will your marriage license be recognized in your State?  Do you need to have any specific tests or documents before you can obtain your marriage license?  The Register of Deeds (in North Carolina) is the go-to-guy (or gal) to find this information.

And as always, don’t hesitate to let us help you make it perfect — indeed we heart traveling!

Good Morning Beautiful!

September 20th, 2011

What a wonderful September day — scratch that, morning for a wedding!  We officially LOVE morning weddings.  Indeed, there’s not many other ways we’d prefer to start a day!

Yes, we were happy to help Felicia and Harold with their break of day union.  The wedding started promptly at 10 a.m. and was followed by an awesome brunch.  Felicia and Harold asked our team to keep it simple, on time and done by 12:30 p.m.  Our response — no problem!

Interested in how we made this a breeze?

Two words:  WEDDING TIMELINE.  Brides, if we can offer one piece of advice — take some time to (better yet, let us help you) write out  the timeline for the day.  Include EVERYTHING you plan to do — and we mean everything!  Factor in your wake up time, when you will eat,   a few bathroom breaks — we promise, it is worth your while.

Secondly, recognize the advantages of a morning wedding.

Vendors have the option to book other clients after your nuptials, so bargain!  Remember what we suggested in our other post — impossible is just a negotiation.

Regardless of your time, remember it’s your special day  – make it YOUR kind of perfect.

Be Inspired

July 25th, 2011

A message from Tia:

I’ve never used our TPP blog to chat about anything other than business, but hey — what the heck.  I felt compelled to share.  This summer, I had the opportunity to travel to Turkey and Armenia.  I know, not the most common places, but what an amazing expedition.  More importantly, I was inspired.  I saw beauty all around me — in the landscape, the people, the sounds and I wanted to share it with you!

Whether a birthday, baby shower, wedding or anniversary — let things around you and your life inspire your vision.  There’s so much that one can do to make an event spectacular, and it starts with your own imagination — so, be inspired.

Summer Soiree

June 26th, 2011

We were thrilled to work with the Buffaloe-Cantu Wedding this summer! Aleha and Carlos were such a fantastic couple. Nevertheless, an outdoor summer wedding in North Carolina can be a bit challenging. But, if you’re a smart bride, like Aleha, you will make sure to keep your guests happy for summer, summer, summertime nuptials.

Here are a few of Aleha’s special touches and our suggestions.

Useful Summer Wedding Favors

We really do love this wedding day gift!  Personalized sandalwood fans are a great way to thank your guests for attending AND keep them cool on a southern summer’s day.  These dual purpose gifts add a beautiful touch, wonderful scent and give your guests a great way to keep cool.

Water Anyone?

Not only is an infused water bar a great decor addition, it also provides a handy (and tasty) watering hole to entertain and hydrate guests before a ceremony.  Choose your favorite fruit and herbs and make a tasty combination!

Timing is Everything

If you’re set on summery wedded bliss, choose your time appropriately.  Check out the average daily temperatures, sun rising and sun setting calendar and create your perfect plan accordingly.  Or take advantage of an indoor pre-ceremony space as your “holding area” prior to the wedding.  Also, remember tenting, gazebos and other shelters can really come in handy and can add another dramatic touch to your special (and fabulous) day.

Aleha and Carlos did a fantastic job, and we’re sure you will too!  If you need a hand, don’t hesitate to choose us!

In Living Color

April 15th, 2011

Choosing your wedding colors may seem like a daunting task, but you’re a bride — you can handle anything!  But just in case you’re not feeling your super bridal powers, here are three tips to getting it right.

Color Wheels are Your Friend

Remember those beautiful color wheels from elementary school?  Well, use the same principles with a nuptial twist.  Check out this awesome blog entry from Xtra Xtra, Online Announcements explaining complementary, analogous and triadic (oh my!) colors.

Don’t be Afraid of Color

When we say orange and pink, what are your first thoughts?  We immediately think of one of fantastic couple’s, Allison & Ryan, BEAUTIFUL wedding.

Splashes of color can make your day a bit more beautiful.  Use florals, attire and decor to showcase your wedding hues.

Ask the Pros

Still unsure?  Turn to the pros!  Check with your florist or photographer about thoughts on colors and current trends.  Whether you choose muted or bold — you deserve only the best.

Oh What a Wedding Show!

January 2nd, 2011

We had the opportunity to participate in The Wedding Show 2011. One word: wow.

More than 100 vendors showcasing all that one could want for their wedding.   After the event, we interviewed one of our brides about the experience, here’s what she had to say:

TPP: “So, tell us about your first bridal show!”

Blushing Bride: “It was a great experience. It was so convenient to have all of my potential vendors in one place. It also inspired me and really helped me to gain insight as to what I want my wedding to be like.”

TPP: ” More than 100 vendors and tons of people — how did you feel?”

Blushing Bride: “It was definitely overwhelming at first. There are literally a hundred plus vendors at one place. But after a while, I finally realized there was no point for me to be stressed out about it, and I started having fun!”

TPP: “We think you should have a small army with you when you attend a show, what do you think?”

Blushing Bride: “Yes, a friend (or two) is probably good to bring. It is a lot of fun after all. I would suggest bringing your maid of honor or someone tied with your wedding –like your planner!”

Wedding shows and events can be overwhelming, but remember this is your opportunity to window shop (or buy it now)!  Take your time, plan to spend several hours at the event and most important have fun — it’s your turn to create your perfect plan.

Need a bridal buddy to attend a wedding show with you?  Let us join you.
